Children, although seemingly unattainable at first, became a major focus and later followed. Beth learns more and more about herself and her loved ones, as grandiose occurrences as well as tragic obstacles line her path.
Her search for the external perfect family ironically brings her to the self-realization that she had been too busy intellectualizing to notice her fragility. Beth finds what she was missing in her relationship with her husband as she discovers a new career. And she learns that love often means suffering and sacrifice.
